WeAreArrow is a collection of small wearable treasures ethically produced using responsibly sourced materials. Each piece is designed and made by hand in our East London studio/shop. The collections draw from the natural world, giving We Are Arrow jewellery an uncommon, distinctive style. Find the WeAreArrow studio and storefront on the historic Columbia Road in East London. Here you can see the work behind a finished product, have a custom piece made, and find your new favourite every day piece!
WeAreArrow owner – Tatiana
Tatiana has been making and selling jewellery since 2009. She opened her shop in Netil Market in 2012, before moving into her dream shop on Columbia Road in 2020. She creates each piece in wax first, before having it cast using the ancient “lost wax casting” method. Tatiana gathers inspiration from her surroundings, with many pieces originating from found plant parts. Seeds, pods, and petals are brought to new life in fine metals, which only accentuates their amazing natural textures! This style and lost wax casting compliment each other well, embracing the uniqueness of organic materials as well as the innate imperfections of the hand at work.
Tatiana’s distinctive creations can be seen on instagram @wearearrow_jewellery.
Ethical jewellery
It is very important to us here at We Are Arrow that we produce jewellery that is fairly sourced and ethical in its making.
Our blue, green, and yellow sapphires are from Queensland, Australia. The stones are untreated, ethically mined, and transparently sourced. Our diamond supplier is also an ethical source, and we are happy to provide proof that they follow the Kimberley Process.
We create jewellery via “lost wax casting” — we carve your piece in wax, it is then used to create a plaster mould which is filled with metal, producing an exact copy of the wax. Our silver and bronze jewellery is made from part-recycled metals, and we are transitioning to casting all our jewellery in 100% recycled metal.
Generally we make all our gold, platinum, and palladium jewellery in 100% recycled metal. We are also certified to work with Fairmined Gold which appears as an option on our Special Offerings.
It is difficult to say whether recycled or fairmined metals are categorically better. With recycled metals no new mining takes place, but we cannot guarantee the provenance of the metal originally. All we know is that it is recycled. Fairmined Gold comes from small and artisanal mines and is environmentally friendly, ethical, socially responsible, and fairly priced, but it is new gold. It’s up to you as a buyer to decide which of these sources aligns best with your values.
