My work has always had a strong outline to it and over the years I’ve developed a style and a process that fits my natural ‘handwriting’
Hand cut or torn, screen printed stencils create strong and bold silhouettes which take on their own character when mixed with the spontaneous but beautiful nature of mono printing.

Screenprints
I produce my screen prints by pushing ink through a fine mesh that is stretched over a wood frame. And I create an image by using cut or torn paper stencils to block areas of the screen. I then pull the ink across the screen by a rubber blade called a squeegee and the ink then pushes through onto the paper beneath.

Monoprint
A monoprint is a single impression of an image. Rather than printing an edition of multiple copies of a single image, only one impression is made. In my case, the monoprint takes the form of a tracing, where I lay thick ink down onto a glass plate, place paper on top which I then draw on, transferring the ink onto the paper. The beauty of this medium is in its spontaneity and the characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike.
