Christmas crafts to bring seasonal joy.
There’s something so essentially festive about the idea of crafting at Christmas isn’t there? Even if you don’t find the time – or inclination – to get hands-on creative during the rest of the year, at Christmas many more of us manage to find both. And the seasonal joy that always seems to follow.
So, with that in mind I thought I’d share a few of the favourite ideas I’ve been saving up for my own Christmas crafts list in case they appeal to you.
Christmas crafts – knitting
Tiny reindeer knitting pattern by Claire Garland
How about this tiny knitted reindeer pattern by Claire Garland of Dot Pebbles Knits?
It’s available to buy as an instant download on Etsy and is quick and easy to knit. Perfect for using up browns/whites stash and a great decoration or gift idea.
Christmas Woodland House pattern by Mary Jane’s Tearoom
There’s a Hansel and Gretel-like magic feeling to this pattern that I love. Would make a wonderful decoration to be displayed year after year. It’s available to buy as an instant download PDF on Etsy.
Merry Trees Children’s jumper knitting kit
I’ve included this idea partly because it’s so cute, but also because it makes life super-easy (it’s a kit which means it also includes the right amount of perfectly chosen yarn as well as the pattern). The yarn is the softest of the soft and I love the simple, festive design. Available in a range of ages from 2 years upwards.
Mini fairisle jumper decorations knitting pattern
How cute are these fairisle jumper decorations (pattern by Northwind Knits)?
This is such a sweet little pattern for making mini Christmas jumper decorations for your tree. Also perfect for using up bits and pieces of yarn in festive colours.
Christmas crafts – embroidery
Through the Woods embroidery pattern by Georgie Emery
This is such a gorgeous design – and suitable for beginners upwards. The pattern is available to buy on Etsy as a PDF Download that will show you how to embroider this pretty winter scene using various different embroidery stitches.
Poppy Treffry Christmas embroidery club
At the time of writing, there’s still time to sign up for Poppy’s 2024 Christmas embroidery club (it closes September 16th). Poppy offers one of these festive clubs every year and they are always really popular. If you miss this year’s don’t despair – why not make a note in your diary for 2026?! Each club consists of a 6-week online course with festive freehand embroidery projects to try your hand at, live weekly sessions with Poppy herself in Cornwall and a supportive Facebook group.
