7 sustainable clothing essentials to take you anywhere, in all seasons and that you’ll love to wear forever
Brilliant craftsmanship, flawless attention to detail and a resolute commitment to slow fashion is the philisophy behind h.huna.
Established in 2019 by Siobhan Shanley, h.huna is a sustainable clothing brand that is dedicated to timeless designs made from quality fabrics that will last you a lifetime. Inspired by her grandmother’s handmade wardrobe, and rejecting the toxic world of fast fashion, Siobhan has created a beautiful capsule collection of elegant designs, sustainably sourced using UK mills and makers.
The collection is available to buy from Löfte – a new online fashion destination for luxury sustainable brands
The h.huna sustainable clothing collection
Capsule piece #1 Brushed wool sweater
This timeless knit is in a brushed lambswool which creates a soft lightweight insulating piece for all seasons. Made across a small production run by a Scottish mill known for their seam free knitting which means no yarn wastage.
Sustainable clothing capsule piece #2 Double Box Pleat Shirt
Made in London from crisp organic white cotton with a slight lustre sheen, this is THE perfect capsule piece. The boxy cut and wide cuff sleeve give this shirt perfect layering potential. Designed and produced in London across limited sizes, this is an all-seasons essential.
Capsule piece #3 Black Ankle Grazer Trousers
Made in London from brushed cotton twill with a light stretch fabric from a British mill known for its industrial heritage, these ankle grazer trousers are inspired by functional and durable workwear. I love their cropped length and slightly retro feel. Chic and practical in one – my sort of trousers!
Capsule piece #4 Longline cotton shirt
Made in London from 100% Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) crisp Oxford shirting, this key piece offers perfect tuckable potential. The shirt has a curved, split hem designed to drop lower at the back and the cuffs are wide for easy turn up. Love how it looks tucked into the Ankle Grazers with a black polo underneath. Effortlessly chic and another all-seasons piece.
Capsule piece #5 Boyfriend cardigan
Made in Scotland using soft local lambswool, this gorgeous cardigan looks chunky but is actually lightweight and beautifully soft to the touch. Produced slowly across a limited knitwear batch, this is another perfect all-seasons layering piece. The sort of cardigan you could love for a lifetime…
Sustainable clothing capsule piece #6 Cocoon dress
With its loose silhouette, boat neckline to flash the collar bone and drop sleeves, this is a flattering and incredibly versatile little black dress. Created from quality deadstock textured crepe fabric and made in London, this is a true forever dress. Effortlessly chic and the perfect dress for layering.
Capsule piece #7 High rise tapered trousers
I love the English tailored feel to these trousers. Inspired by menswear chinos, they are designed to flatter with a high waist to cinch in and a turn up tapered hem with angle grazing potential. Made in London and cut from an end of line gorgeous virgin wool tweed from a local mill, this style is limited edition, made across a very small production run.
More about h.huna sustainable clothing
In Siobhan’s own words…
“I decided to take a side step to create a capsule collection for women who treasure craftsmanship, impeccable detail, and prefer to own things for life. And wishing to represent the talent of the manufacturers close to home, h.huna started the ball rolling by working primarily with UK and Scottish factories. A slow process that involves several trips and multiple cups of tea.
“Each piece is designed with a visible story to capture the timeless simplicity with a contemporary edge, be it a high rise waist with a masculine twist inspired by Marlene Dietrich, a seam free knit to create comfort and lessen yarn waste or a deadstock fabric to minimise landfill. h.huna strives to bring an awakening to slow fashion, sustainable clothing production and faith in a garment’s purpose to help you to identify with your individual character and to be at one with your wardrobe pieces”.
